Formally CEN, an optimalisation organisation, is active at European level. The impact of the European guideline INSPIRE (a legal mandate for a European geo-information infrastructure) upon European standards and thus upon the Netherlands too, is extremely high. For this reason CEN/TC 287 and INSPIRE will be dealt with here.
