Introduction
With the meadow birds application, users (members of the Agricultural Nature Association) are able to enter geographic data related to the management of grassland. As well as information about the territories of meadow birds, information about the location of their nests can be entered too. This information can then be used to work out how suitable the management implemented for meadow birds is. The result of this analysis may then be used to adapt the management style, if necessary.
The article by Bas Vanmeulenbrouk and others. explains more about the application and its usage.
Standards Used
The standards that are used by the meadow birds application:
- WMS for making maps. Styling takes place by using SLD;
- WFS-T for retrieving and writing in features.
Used software
The system uses both open source and proprietary software:
- GeoServer is used as WMS/WFS-T;
- Data is saved in an Oracle database;
- Analysis takes place with ArcGIS.
